Copyediting

Proofreading, line editing, and formatting editing. Focuses on correcting mechanics of writing such as spelling, grammar, continuity, flow, and other technical considerations. Depending on project type, could also include style guide or industry compliance.

  • <1k-10k words: within a week, $15-50

  • ~20k words: two weeks, $50-100

  • ~50k words: three weeks, ~$120

Developmental Editing

Detailed critique and/or substantial revision. Critique focuses on identifying opportunities in and suggesting improvements for elements of craft such as structure, themes, style, pacing, etc. Revision includes all the aforementioned plus copyediting, and also enacts suggestions in a collaborative process with the client.

  • Single-piece / short Multi-Piece projects: <1 week-2 weeks, $35-100

  • Chapbook-length projects: 2.5 weeks-1 month, $100-150

  • Collection & Novel-length projects: 3-6 months, $300-600

Self-Publishing Consult

Provides an assessment of the project regarding its level of publication-readiness; suggestions regarding and/or assistance with self-publishing platforms and design resources; insights into self-publishing best practices per nature of project; and strategies for digital marketing and community/industry promotion.

Conducted virtually through email and/or Zoom.

Editorial Retainer

Long-term editing, consultation, and writing coaching services for book-length and/or serial projects-in-progress,
